New Guidelines and Updates for Québec Immigration

The Québec Immigration authority — Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration — has introduced the following immigration guidelines:

· The Experience Program of the Quebec Immigration program, has been re-opened for international graduates, with revised eligibility requirements for temporary foreign workers who have sufficient work experience in Québec, and graduates from Québec colleges/universities.

· The Immigrant Investor Program stands suspended till July 2020.

· A new Area of Training List, which indicates Quebec’s economic and employment requirements, took effect on 1st November 2019. The new list applies to all applications submitted before or after 1st November.

· Starting 1st January 2020, overseas candidates will have to pass a test on Québec’s values and democratic principles, by adequately answering at least 75% of the multiple choice questions — within three attempts.

In 2020, the Ministère aims to admit 44,500 permanent residents and issue 24,700 permanent selection certificates. 59% of the new admissions are expected to enter through the province’s economic immigration programs as per Quebec immigration norms. In addition to all this, the immigrants need to pay the requisite Canada PR fees to process the application ahead.
