If you plan on moving to Australia as a skilled worker, you will have to prove your potential to contribute to the country’s economy. Only those who have the skills and qualifications required to meet Australia’s labor market requirements can apply for permanent or temporary residence. If you are applying through the Subclass 189, 190 or 491 visa, your eligibility will be assessed by the Australia point system.

In addition to meeting the visa-specific eligibility requirements, candidates for these three visas must score at least 65 points based on the relevant selection criteria — including age, English language skills, work experience, academic qualifications, adaptability factors, single status or skills of an accompanying partner, and state nomination or sponsorship (if applicable). However, this does not guarantee visa approval.

Only the highest-scoring candidates are invited to submit an application for the Australia PR visa. In order to meet the point cut-off for receiving an invitation, you should try to claim as many points as possible. To do so, you can try to implement some useful tips:

· Try to apply while in the age range of 25 to 32 years, to claim the maximum points for this criteria.

· If you have only competent English skills, reappear for the language test to score higher and demonstrate proficient or superior English.

· If you are single or have a partner who is a citizen or permanent resident of Australia, you can claim 10 additional points. If you have a partner who is migrating to Australia with you, the Australia PR points calculator offers additional points based on the partner’s skills.

· Gain more work experience, within or outside Australia. You must first check the number of years of experience required for availing more points, to understand if this is feasible for you.

· Try to attain a higher academic qualification — preferably in Australia, at an institution that meets the Australian study requirement or the Specialist education qualification, or is located in a regional area of Australia.

· You can complete a professional year in Australia or obtain a community language credential if you are fluent in any of the languages that Australia recognizes as community languages.

· If you are falling short of points, then opt for one of the state nomination visas, as being nominated or sponsored adds 5 points in case of the Subclass 190 visa, and 15 points in case of the Subclass 491 visa.

Many candidates seek the guidance of professionals to navigate the process. The seasoned immigration consultants at Visa Experts provide legitimate support to help you calculate your Australia point system score, claim more points, check your eligibility, choose the correct visa pathway for your profile, fulfil the documentation requirements, and prepare a complete visa application in accordance with deadlines.
