As 2020 has already gone and 2021 is halfway finished, we can say that 2021 has been an excellent year in the context of Canadian immigration. Things look good with thousands of people globally receiving ITAs via a comprehensive ranking system, express entry, and PNPs.

2021’s immigration levels garnered a lot of attention as the government pledged to enhance immigration targets to welcome over 1.2 million new residents over the next three years. Let’s talk about them in detail:

Highest multi-year immigration levels plan ever

In October 2020, Canada’s immigration minister Marco Mendicino made a historic announcement to welcome around 401,000 new permanent residents in 2021. To achieve this target, the government of Canada continues to hold immigration draws to invite applicants under various economic migration categories. The first half of 2021 saw CEC candidates receiving a lion’s share of invitations, however, the second half is witnessing foreign skilled workers getting their due of invitations.

Canada had implemented many restrictions in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, prompting the government to keep its immigration targets at lower levels to ensure economic recovery while making up for the same in 2021.

Canada is now keen to invite more immigrants with higher CRS point and skills to boost the economic prosperity of the country.

Unstoppable Express Entry

The express entry system has been quite active in 2021 and will continue to be the same over the next few months. The system has performed exceptionally well in inviting candidates amid travel restrictions and several other challenges caused by the pandemic. The last three draws were quite impressive where we saw a higher number of invitations granted by the system.

The last express entry draw, which was the 203rd draw of 2021 offer 635 ITAs to those with a cut-off score of 764. The draw was restricted to applicants having provincial nominations.

Canada is constantly inviting thousands of immigrants to apply for Permanent Residency every month.

In the coming months, one can expect that the trend will remain the same and that more immigration hopefuls with impressive scores in Canada CRS point calculator will be able to immigrate to the maple leaf country.

Online Classes for International Students

In 2020, 1.6 billion students globally finished their online classes. The Canadian government is also implementing measures to ensure a safe return of international students in Canada. A few months ago, the government had also instructed Canadian colleges and universities to present their reports on steps they intend to take to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus in the college premises.

The government has been working hard to ensure that international students taking online classes have access to same facilities, experiences, and opportunities as those studying in Canada. Canada’s government also make these students eligible to apply for a Post-graduation work permit after completing their studies in Canada.

Canada works on modernizing its immigration system

Canada plans to invest $750.3 million to modernize its immigration system. The fund will support Canada’s target to welcome 1.2 million newcomers till 2023.
